A Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidate on Monday reportedly poisoned himself in Rarieda, Bondo sub-county.
Fortunately, the parents managed to rush him to Ndori Health Centre, where was attended to, before being transferred to Bondo sub-county hospital where he was treated and stabilized. It is still not clear why the 15-year-old took the alleged poison.Confirming the incident, Bondo hospital deputy medical superintendent, Dr Paul Oloo said the pupil is stable, but will have to take his exams from the hospital.“The teenager will sit the remaining tests in hospital as that will help him avoid the anxiety and fear that is brought by the classroom environment,” said Dr Oloo as quoted by K24.The KCPE exams kicked off today all over the country, with no major hitches reported so far.A number of senior government officials were dispersed to various examination centres to oversee the process. Addressing the media at various centres, the officials overseeing the examinations noted that everything was moving on smoothly, and reiterated the government's pledge to provide maximum security during the process.
