Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has opened up on how he felt when retired President Mwai Kibaki transferred him from a powerful position to head an "inferior ministry."
Kalonzo confessed that he was not happy when he was reshuffled to the Ministry of Environment.
He spoke during an interview at his Karen home in Nairobi on Saturday.
The Ukambani political kingpin said though Kibaki thought he had finished him politically, he chose to play it calm by re-inventing himself in the same position.
Kalonzo said he drew inspiration from the ministerial post and came out stronger than before.
“When President Kibaki thought he had booted me from the government by handing me the environment docket, I took a lot of time to create this little forest where I draw a lot of inspiration and through which I connect with nature,” he said.
Kalonzo expected Kibaki to back his candidature in 2013 but the latter endorsed Uhuru for the post.
He decided to cross over to form the Coalition for Restoration of Democracy (CORD) alongside former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and other leaders in order to rise to power.
The attempts to win presidency proved futile after Uhuru emerged the winner in the elections.
