Retired President Daniel Moi has described billionaire Jeremiah Kiereini as a humble servant who dedicated his time to serve the public with humility.

He said Jeremiah Kiereini's death had deeply saddened him and said he shared the pain with members of his family, friends, relatives and the people of Kenya at large.

Mr Kiereini, 90, died on Monday evening with details about his death remaining scanty. He went to Alliance High School and Makerere before joining civil service.

He served as former chairperson of the East African Breweries Limited (EABL) and The Cooper Motor Corporation (CMC). He was also former head of Civil Service

President Uhuru Kenyatta also sent his condolences, lauding the octogenerian for good service during his days in public service. He served both Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi.

“Mr. Kereini was a polished patriot and loyal Kenyan who served this country with dedication as a public servant for over 30 years rising through the ranks to the position of Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet,” said the President.

Mr Kiereini is among Nairobi billionaires and had interest in real estate. Two of his sons died within a span of six years with the police yet to unearth the mystery surrounding the deaths.
