The BBI and its taskforce were founded by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga after their March 2018 truce.

But the MP is questioning Uhuru's involvement in the same, suggesting that he might have been under pressure to participate, most likely from the former Prime Minister.

He on Saturday pointed out that while Kenyans from all walks of life have been seen giving their views to the taskforce, Uhuru has not been seen and neither has his Jubilee Party.

This, he said, either means that the President gave his views in secret, which might raise questions on the independence of the taskforce, or was not much interested in the BBI issue.

"Sikuona rais akitoa maoni yake, nataka kuona pendekezo la rais, chama cha Jubilee pia haikutoa maoni yake . Hapa kuna shere unachezwa," he said.

This translates to: "I never saw the president give his views, neither did I see Jubilee do the same. There is a game being played here."

He also pointed out that the BBI is marred in confusion, given that its not provided for in the constitution, wondering what shall follow once the report is out.

According to the MP, it will be interesting watching which of the two legislative houses it will be taken to after being submitted to Uhuru, most likely next week.

According to him, Kenyans should also be told how the Sh10 billion allocated to the taskforce was used.

"Now that they have written the report, where will they take it? The National Assembly or Senate? Let them also tell us how they spent the Sh10 billion  (Sasa ripoti wameandika, itaenda wapi? Senate ama bunge? Watuambie hii Sh10 billion walitumia aje)," he added.

The taskforce is expected to hand over its report to Uhuru next week, amid expectations that it will propose major constitutional changes.
