A man and his daughter are nursing injuries at different health facilities in Kisumu after the former set his house on fire on Sunday morning.
The man identified as Stephen Ouma allegedly set the house on fire while inside with her 8-year-old daughter.
He allegedly carried out the act after differing with his wife in a domestic row.
It is not clear where his wife was during the incident.
Neighbours managed to rescue the two before being consumed by the fire.
After being rescued, the man allegedly tried to commit suicide by taking poison.
According to Kisumu County Police Commander, the two got minor burns from the fire incident.
“The daughter is being treated at the Lolwe Dispensary while the man was rushed to Kombewa Hospital,” said Boronjo in a phone interview with Hivisasa.com on Monday morning.
He said that the man will be charged for attempted suicide and attempted murder.
“After he recovers, he will be charged for attempted suicide and the attempted murder of his innocent child. You cannot attempt to take your life and that of your innocent daughter for your own unknown reasons,” he said.
