Deputy President William Ruto is now secretly reaching out to Raila for a possible truce and reconciliation before 2022 polls, a source has confided.
For the last one month, Dr Ruto is said to have been keen on striking on Mr Odinga's camp, with former ODM network said to be key behind the scenes to reconcile the two.
Last month a lone, the source said, the two planned a meeting but did not materialise due to logistics but efforts to bring the two together are still on course.
"There has been a paradigm shift since 2018 and the DP had to change the tactic. He's using a senior Rift Valley leader, who has since retired to bury the truce," he said.
"The most important reason why he wants to meet him is over the BBI initiative. He's not aware of the details and there is no otherwise. We had to ask him to change the tactic and reach out to Odinga," said Ruto's ally, who is privy to scenes behind the scheme of the two.
According to ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire, the two reaching out to each other is not a big issue, 'as long as Ruto accepts his mistakes and gets into the train'.
"I can't tell if there is such plans but there is nothing wrong if they meet and reconcile. Dr Ruto has to admit his past mistakes and get into the train. That's the only solution," said Bosire.
The information was corroborated with that of perennial Borabu MP contestant Patrick Osero, who said that Dr Ruto has a right to meet and discuss issues with Raila.
"We have worked together in the past. This isn't news. They can meet any time and discuss politics. It doesn't mean that if they don't go together in the podium, they should be not be talking in public," he said.
