President Uhuru Kenyatta is fully behind Supreme Court case challenging election of Governor John Nyagarama, it has now emerged.
On Thursday, Justice Stephen Gatembu on behalf of the bench upheld Nyagarama's victory on grounds that the petitioner failed to table concrete evidence on widespread rigging.
And in an interview with the writer, petitioner Walter Nyambati, a close confidant of the president, said he has full backing by the Head of State.
"The president is aware of the matter and I have his full blessings. He has been monitoring and he is fighting along with me to ensure justice prevails.
"I am sure Supreme Court will overturn the ruling because they believe in justice. Money has been exchanging hands and we hope this time they won't succeed," he said.
Uhuru's lawyer Fred Ngatia is acting on behalf of Nyambati and has already filed a Notice of Appeal at the Supreme Court.
Moments to October 26th polls, Uhuru vowed to ensure Nyamira governorship elections are overturned when he hosted Gusii leaders at Nakuru State House.
The difference between Nyagarama of ODM and Nyambati was 6,500 votes during the hotily contested August polls.
