Speaking on Citizen TV Tuesday night, the DP said that the handshake has been very beneficial to the nation.

Though he has raised some very serious questions about the truce, he noted that the union has returned calm in the country, and enhanced social and economic peace.

"Its working to an extent. To an extent that we don't have any demonstrations anymore, we don't have people quarreling in the streets anymore, we've toned down problems and businesses are running without problems, it is working," he said.

He added that he supports a continuation of the good terms between the two leaders, and is in support of its Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) aftermath founded by the two after their truce.

"It should continue regardless of my issues with it," he added.

Uhuru and Raila based the handshake on the need for the country to come up with remedies to the recurrent post-election issues, which at times result in bitter wrangles between politicians and citizens.
