A lawyer representing the former finance CEC has expressed his impatience at the slow pace of the case.
In a letter dated 15 October 2018 seen by this writer, lawyer Kanjama who is standing for the family of CEC Idris Mukhtar raised concerns why other conspirators in the attempted murder of former CEC Idriss Muktar.
"We are reliably informed that investigations into the attempted murder of the undersigned are now complete and the file was forwarded to your office by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations as early as Friday 12 October 2018," reads the letter forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Nordin Haji.
The letter further indicated that some other individuals named in the murder probe were yet to be arrested even after investigations directly implicated them in the attempted assassination.
"Our clients are very much concerned that aside from Mohammed Hussein Aden and Charity Njoki who have since been arrested and charged in court (CMCC NO. 1698 of 2018) none of the other alleged conspirators including Mr Ali Bunow Korane and his brother Mohammed Bunow have been arrested and charged," added the letter.
Kanjama further disputed reports of ongoing negotiations between the governor and the family of the CEC, saying that no such developments were on course.
He further said that the only people allowed to speak on behalf of the family are only the CEC's father Dr Aden Mukhtar Bare and the Muma &Kanjama Advocates.
