On Sunday evening a sombre mood engulfed Kithambioni village in Masinga sub-county of Machakos County after a 2-year-old child was crushed to death after gate fell on her.
Raphael Kyengo, Endei assistant chief confirmed the sad incident.
Kyengo spoke to this writer on phone confirming that the little child was playing when the gate fell on her killing her instantly.
He said the gate had some hinge problems and was pending repair.
"The gate had one hinge missing and had not been repaired, the kid was playing when it fell on him and died on the spot," said Kyengo.
He said that the police were notified about the incident. He said the body was moved to Yatta funeral home for preservation.
" yes I called the police and notified them about the incident, they said they will follow up on the issue. The body was picked and moved to the morgue, "he said.
He urged parents to ensure the environment which their kids play is safe.
He said that if the parents had repaired the gate it would not have crumbled on the kid.
"Parents should ensure their kids are safe even when playing in a bid to ensure they're kept from danger," he said.
