There was drama after a local chief and a team of Nyumba Kumi officials recovered used baby diapers soaked in a local illicit brew on Wednesday at Kirwa village in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii County.
Lawrence Bichanga, area assistant chief said the crackdown's main aim was to destroy illicit brew and it was during the raid that they discovered baby diapers soaked in the 200 jerrycans.
"I was with Nyumba Kumi officials in a crackdown and when we arrived at Josephine Matagaro's homestead. She escaped arrest so we stormed the room where she was hiding busaa and started pouring it only to discover used baby diapers deeply soaked inside the 200 jerrycans which were containing busaa," he said.
The chief said the woman has been using the baby diapers to make her illicit brew sweeter.
He called on residents who consume busaa and chang'aa to stop because the process of making them is dirty and bad.
"People are endangering their lives consuming illicit brew prepared in unhygienic conditions. It is time residents should shun consuming illicit brews for the sake of their good health," he said.
The administrator assured that he is not going to rest until illegal business comes to an end in the area.
