Political analyst Ambrose Weda has accused National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi of misleading Kenyans over an alleged plot by some members of the Jubilee Party to impeach Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
The Suba South MP, in a press conference earlier in the week, claimed that forces allied to Deputy President William Ruto are planning to oust Matiang'i using his implication in the fake gold saga as an excuse.
However, Weda now says that Mbadi openly lied to Kenyans, and is well aware that Ruto's forces cannot make such a suicidal and embarrassing attempt, being aware that they lack the numbers needed for the same in parliament.
He said that thanks to the union between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga, it would be almost impossible for Ruto's troops to manage to make any successful move in both houses.
"The only person who can remove Matiang'i from his position now is Uhuru. Uhuru is now with Raila and also with Matiang'i, which means that he (Matiang'i) cannot be impeached," he said.
The commentator stated that Mbadi was simply trying to endear himself to Raila, who doubles up as his boss at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) but ended up cooking lies in the process.
"John Mbadi is very brilliant but he is putting himself in a situation where he is having to cook lies," added Weda in an interview on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation Show on Wednesday morning.
On the fake gold scandal, Mbadi claimed that Ruto's team is actually using the saga as an excuse to settle scores with the CS who was last year given additional responsibilities equating him to a Chief Minister, which in turn clipped Ruto's powers.
