It was a sad moment for Nkubu residents as they laid to rest Fridah Makena on Thursday, March 7.
The late Makena committed suicide over a love affair gone sour.
According to her friends at the Meru University, Makena was hurt after she was jilted by her lover who moved on with another girl.
The said lover is a student at Cooperative University.
While eulogizing her, mourners urged young people not to rush into making drastic decisions.
"We have very cute and handsome men in this universe, do not be disturbed by those who want to hurt you. Losing a young life like this is too painful," one speaker said.
The story of Makena went viral on social media as her friends shared her last moments.
According to one friend who shared screenshots of the last communication, the girl expressed her pain after a young man she madly loved jilted her. According to her, she could not live without the guy's love.
Not even assurances by friends that all would be well could have persuaded her to drop plans to end her life.
She recorded a video as she took several tablets to end her life.
