A middle-aged man from Keumbu area is currently fighting for his life at Kisii teaching and referral hospital after stabbing himself with a knife on Sunday.
According to his parents, the man decided to stab himself after his trial to rape his sister failed, as the sister cried for help and when they rushed to the house where they were, the man took a knife and stabbed himself.
“We heard our daughter screaming for help and we were wondering what was going on and she later explained that his own brother tried to rape her when she had gone to his house on Sunday evening and upon realizing it was not possible his brother Kennedy Mogere stabbed himself on the stomach,” said Jackline Mogere his mother
The mother however further added that they reported the matter to Keumbu police station and the police rushed his son Kennedy Mogere to the hospital for treatment.
Confirming the incident area police boss Elijah Otieno said the man will be charged with two accounts once he gets out of the hospital.
“The man will be charged with rape as well as attempted suicide. We will also have to examine him before the charges to ascertain his mental condition when he gets out of Kisii Level six hospital where he is currently recuperating,” said Otieno.
The police further warned all those planning to carry out such crimes as they will be arrested as well as be charged in court.
