Secretary of Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication in the Office of the President Dennis Itumbi has urged NRG Radio to ignore lawyer Donald Kipkorir's threat to take the station to court over unauthorised use of Kenyan marathoner Eliud Kipchoge's images.
Under directions from his client Kipchoge, Kipkorir has demanded an apology from NRG failure to which he will proceed to lodge a suit against the station for unlawfully using Kipchoge's images.
Itumbi, however, advised NRG to ignore Kipkorir's threats, arguing that the lawyer only issues threats but cannot go past that.
He noted that he has personally received several letters from Kipkorir, adding that no action has followed. Itumbi further hit out at Kipkorir, terming him a "slay queen" lawyer who only shouts but can't bite.
However, Itumbi advised the station to solve the matter directly with Kipchoge, who became the first man in history to run a marathon under two hours during the INEOS 1:59 Challenge held last week on Saturday in Vienna, Austria.
"Dear @NRGRadioKenya, ignore any #slayqueenlawyer, she shouts but does not know how to bite. She has served me those letters before threatening a defamation suit, I told her to go ahead, I am still waiting almost two years later! But pick your phone and talk to Eliud," he wrote.
