Ruto on Monday told the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti that some top state officials from the Mt Kenya region are planning to eliminate him.

Those implicated include four Cabinet Secretaries, including Mucheru, who, however, said on Thursday that he has nothing to do with the said plot and is, therefore, not bothered at all.

He claimed that the allegations levelled against him and his Trade counterpart Peter Munya, Sicily Kariuki (Health) and James Macharia (Transport) are untrue.

“I have no problem. I know the accusations are untrue, so I'm sleeping well at night," he told the Standard on Thursday.

This was his first time to touch on the issue, a job that had until Wednesday been left to Munya, who has since admitted that they have had meetings, but insisted that they were about regional development.

“There is nothing. Why should we spend our energies thinking about this matter? It is an irrelevant issue because if you ask me, there is no plan to kill anybody,” said the former Meru Governor in an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday.
