When you are staying in the city like Nairobi or any other town in the country, you always have to accommodate friends or relatives seeking better lives.
It is an unwritten African code, to provide a brother or sister with a safe landing before he or she can get their own nests, or safe branches to perch.
However, some people are annoying just by the habits they display, sometimes ruining the experience or making the host vow never to accommodate anyone.
These habits are:
1.Overstaying
It is common for your host to tell you to feel at home.
At no point does that mean that you can stretch your stay to days and weeks or even months.
It is prudent to finish whatever business that made you leave the comfort of your home and leave as soon as possible.
Without work, you become a burden to your host, especially now that he or she has to feed one more mouth.
2.Bringing other people
You could be living in a bedsitter, and this visitor of yours decides that it is a good idea to bring a girl (if it’s a boy) over for coital-related rendezvous.
That will be violating every single rule on the visitor’s book of ethics.
It is safe not to bring anyone during your stay, even if your host tells you explicitly that he or she has no problem with it.
3. Not informing you host of your dietary needs
In the city, some people mastered the art and science of depending on 'kdf' for all the nutritional needs.
Fresh from the village, with all the abundance (breakfast, tea break, lunch, evening tea, supper), it will be hard to survive.
On the other hand, there are those with special dietary needs, recommended either by their palate or their digestive systems.
If you are one of these, it is important to inform your host in advance before he or she cooks something that will either kill or make you paralysed from the waist down.
