Initially, his handlers reported, that Mr. Odinga was to have offices only at the union's Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) and Nairobi in Kenya to allow him execute his new assignments.

But ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire confirmed that Mr. Odinga will have five regional offices across the continent for effective service delivery.

"These offices are located in the five Africa regions. And being based in a specific region, will help him meet and strategise well for Infrastructural Development.

"But this doesn't mean that he will not be around. The opportunity gives him a chance to even strengthen his reach not only in Kenya but also across the continent. He's in politics to stay," argued Mr. Bosire.

Among the offices include South Africa (Johannesburg), West Africa (Nigeria, Abuja), North Africa (Egypt, Cairo).

Nairobi offices will serve as his offices got both East and Central Africa regions while the Addis Ababa offices will be his general meeting point.

Mr. Odinga, who buried hatchet with President Uhuru Kenyatta earlier this year, accepted his appointment during Mashujaa Day celebrations at Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega on Saturday.

AU commission chairman Moussa Faki said Mr. Odinga would use his long experience both in politics and government to bring stability in terms of infrastructure across the continent.

With Odinga being still active in national politics, Siaya Senator James Orengo insisted that he will still make presence in Kenyan politics.

"He consulted widely before taking the position. He will still be around and those who think he's exiting politics should forget," he said.

Politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto led by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei insisted that Mr. Odinga should now quit local politics for his continental assignment.
