Uasin Gishu County Commission Abdi Hassan has revealed places in Eldoret town where there have been increased cases of electronics thefts.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Friday, Hassan said the cases are on the rise in a majority of the informal settlements in the Uasin Gishu's capital.
“Huruma, Kidiwa, Kamukunji, Kipkaren, Elgon View, Action and Tairi Mbili are the notorious estates where the business is common. I am giving those involved notice to vacate from the business as we will not tolerate them,” said Hassan.
Electronics commonly targeted in the thefts include computers, television sets, and electronic jikos among others.
The county commissioner said that they are now investigating to find out where the stolen electronics are sold so that those working with the criminals are dealt with ruthlessly.
He also noted that they have beefed up security during this festive season as asked locals to go on with their normal business without any fear.
“We have put measures to ensure that there is enough security so that residents can do their business without fear,” he added.
Hassan, however, asked members of the public to work closely with the police by reporting any suspicious characters so that the law can take its cause
