An Administration Police (AP) officer attached to Umoja II police post in Nairobi has shot himself dead.
The police officer killed himself on Sunday morning under what detectives term as unclear circumstances.
Reports on Nation indicate that the body of the male police officer was discovered by his fellow colleagues at around 7 am.
The deceased failed to report to his work station, prompting his fellow officers to check his house where they stumbled on his lifeless body
Kamukunji sub-county Police Commander Adamson Bungei confirmed the death.
The name of the officer has not been revealed since his next of kin are yet to be informed.
“The incident occurred at around 7am but we cannot reveal the name of the officer because the next of kin has not been informed of the death,” Mr Bungei told the Nation.
He said that investigations into the incident are underway.
The incident comes just a day after a female constable attached to Parliament Police station in Nairobi was found murdered in her house in Umoja estate.
The lifeless body of Hellen Kwamboka was discovered on Friday in her house, and a hunt-down for her suspected killer is underway.
The country has in the past few weeks experienced a rise in cases where men and women in uniform, are either ending their lives in unclear circumstances, or being killed by unknown people.
