Former Kenyatta University president, who unsuccessfully vied for the Busia Senatorial seat in last year's general elections, Lone Felix, has hit out at the government over claims of taxing Kenyans heavily.
Lone Felix said the government heavily taxes Kenyans, especially the middle-class, before finding ways of making the same Kenyans view their problems as a 'joke'.
He argued that the government pays certain bloggers to come up with jokes and memes mocking the problems they have caused to suffering Kenyans, with the aim of making citizens forget their troubles.
"The Kenyan Middle Class. A government heavily taxes you, then pays bloggers to create memes. They ensure your anger at best becomes a joke and we laugh at our problems with Ushuru Chinnatta at the expense of Organizing and responding," read part of his Facebook post.
He further argued that Kenyans have become the joke by allowing their leaders to get away with things instead of holding them accountable.
"To Govern Kenya, just be a comedian, you can joke your way into people accepting to chop the fingers of their children every morning because we then have less body parts to feed. We are the Joke," he added.
This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday signed into law the Finance Bill a day after it was passed by the National Assembly.
The Bill will now see an eight per cent VAT charged on petroleum products, a move that analysts opine will lead to a rise in the cost of living.
