Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago [Photo/Joe Khisa]Governors elected on a Jubilee ticket in counties outside former Central province have been accused of overlooking locals from the Mt. Kenya region in the distribution of employment opportunities.According to Eliud Kinuthia who unsuccessfully vied for the Lamu gubernatorial seat in the August 8 poll on a PNU ticket, at least 13 counties with Jubilee governors have sidelined people from the Agikuyu, Embu, and Meru (GEMA) communities.Speaking in Eldoret on Friday, Kinuthia asked President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and the entire Jubilee party leadership to ensure inclusivity in the affected counties. He named Lamu, Kwale, Kajiado and Uasin Gishu as among counties that have failed to give job opportunities to people from the Mt. Kenya region."What our people are going through in those counties is unacceptable. They are being sidelined and totally ignored whenever they employ people in various positions," lamented Mr. Kinuthia."Those governors should know that they won the elections partly because of the support of our people who deserve to be given employment opportunities just like the other locals," he added. *Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Uasin Gishu County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
