Opposition leader Raila Odinga appears busy at work.

His main job this time around most likely being to scuttle Deputy President William Ruto's bid and strengthen his instead.

It appears his plans are working, and having detected this too, Ruto has been rendered helpless, hence his rants at public functions and forums lately.

Raila is succeeding in destroying the Jubilee Party, Ruto's only hope to ascending to the top seat in the much anticipated 2022 general elections, a race they could face off in.

Consequently, we are now looking at a divided party, with President Uhuru Kenyatta himself appearing confused on what way to take, proof that Raila has done something.

At the same time, a number of elected leaders have publicly denounced Ruto, with the remaining not being enough to deliver the win as they did to Uhuru in 2013 and 2017.

Though he has almost a full backing of his Rift Valley region, the Central Kenya part seems to be divided.

Though he has the backing of the likes of Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa, there are others like Ngunjiri Wambugu who are not in his support.

And all this is most likely the doing of Odinga, considering that the party was intact until he reconciled with Uhuru in 2018, though it might be quite mysterious how he is doing it.

The DP has himself confirmed it and has been lamenting over the last few days that he is breaking the party.

Actually, even the ones in his support are very likely to betray him in the instance that Kenyatta recalls them and introduces a new political direction.

Also, Raila has since again managed to resurrect the corruption issue and directly throw it at the DP, a serious issue that might render his (Ruto) bid useless.

In their verbal scuffle earlier in the month, Raila termed Ruto a thief who is busy heaping the blame on the other persons, regarding the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.

And what pains Ruto most is the growing rift between himself and Uhuru, which can also be attributed to Raila who now seems to have taken his place beside the Head of State.

Uhuru has repeatedly insisted that he will not drop Raila in their unity and development journey, a declaration Ruto is afraid might eih time transform into a political union.

And just like animals do when cornered, he is now trying to hit back to keep his dreams alive, hence the attacks on Raila and unending allegations.

With a broken Jubilee, corruption allegations and Uhuru's withdrawal, it will be almost impossible for the DP to succeed and he seems to have realized it.
