Githongo, who is the current Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Kiamwangi Ward, has been put on the spot after he allegedly forged a certificate to join Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) for a programme as he sought to contest for the post.

He has said that he has papers to enable him join the institution for the said programme but it later emerged that he had lied to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

“The investigations commenced following an anonymous report that the suspect, a Member of Kiambu County Assembly representing Kiamwangi Ward, used a forged KCSE certificate to enrol for a diploma certificate at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology,” reads the notice, as quoted by Daily Nation.

The lawmaker had reportedly joined the institution to undertake a diploma in Governance and Leadership before it was discovered that he had lied to the commission.

He is now expected to appeat before the court so that he can shed more light on the matter before he faces sentencing.
