Speaking at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) on Tuesday morning during the launch of the Post-Election Evaluation Report, Duale said that the electoral body has been spending too much in conducting polls, which is not economical.

He cited the amount as Ksh.54billion, which said is waste of resources meant for developmental purposes.

He also said that the main problem is that the IEBC and other bodies tasked with polls often discuss this issue when it is too late.

He also hailed the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Leader Raila Amolo, noting that it has changed the political landscape of this nation.

He went on to call upon IEBC to revisit the legal framework, voter registration as well as infrastructure before the 2022 Presidential polls.

“Let us put our energies as stakeholders and re look at what is ailing the election in our country,” he said, as quoted by Citizen.

On his part, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati faulted the National Treasury for the delay in funding. He alluded that the financial body has been delaying to fund IEBC, which has affected its operations.
