President Uhuru Kenyatta is under pressure to leave a legacy that all Kenyans will be satisfied with when he officially exits State House in 2022.
However, there are four key issues that are currently confronting the commander in chief that if not addressed well, will stain his legacy when he exits power.
1. Implementing the Big Four agenda
Implementing this agenda which entails promoting universal healthcare, manufacturing, affordable housing and food security are some of the headaches facing Uhuru.
In a country where the debt burden is so high after massive borrowing, the president may not find sufficient funds to finance the implementation of the four key pillars (listed above) of his last term.
2. Fighting corruption
This is one of the areas where Uhuru may lose points as he inches closer to completing his final term.
Run-away graft has left the Treasury broke to the extent that the government has resorted to taxing basic commodities including kerosene used by poor Kenyans.
3. Preventing early campaigns
Leaders including Deputy President William Ruto have already hit the campaign trail, four years into the next election.
Early campaigns will definitely put the country on election mode and Kenyans may fail to support the implementation of specific government agendas.
4. Keeping Raila closer to him
This is crucial as Raila since 2013 has been Uhuru's main political rival.
Failing to keep him close to him will mean antagonism with the opposition chief.
The economy only recently eased after the two met in Nairobi and pledged to work together in uniting Kenya.
