Defeated Migori senatorial aspirant Eddy Oketch has only himself to blame for his fresh loss in the hands of veteran politician Ochilo Ayacko.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Tueday declared Ayacko the winner after he garnered 57.69% of the valid votes.

The loss on Oketch's side can partly be blamed on his recklessness and speed to condemn the Orange party during the campaign season.

Successfully trapped by the many accusations from ODM that he was being funded by Deputy President William Ruto, Oketch went ahead to term the allegations mere propaganda.

He, however, did not keenly consider that the allegations were basically coming from Suna East lawmaker Junet Mohammed who despite being a darling of many from the region is as well very close to the party leader Raila Odinga.

Odinga is also the region's political kingpin, and attacks on either ODM or some of its members directly reflected on the leader, an unacceptable move in the region.

Further, considering that Ruto is a hard-sell in the region due to his pending presidential bid where he could faceoff with Odinga, ODM knew that linking Oketch to him would obviously render the youthful politician a villain.

Consequently, Oketch went ahead to emerge second after scoring only 60, 555 votes, this being 40.99 percent.
