The family of embattled Migori Governor Okoth Obado has now linked former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to the tribulations facing the former.
Mr Obado, who is also facing murder charges, was released on Friday on Sh500,000 bond after staying behind cells for two days over illegal possession of firearms.
And his brother, Daudi Okoth, now says Raila is afraid of the governor's upward trajectory popularity in the South Nyanza region.
"These cases are manufactured. He's being punished because of his political ideologies. They are trying to imply that Obado is the most corrupt governor in Kenya.
"It's just someone who thinks he's a god in Nyanza politics. We know his schemes and that will not succeed," he said in reference to Raila Odinga.
Last week at Nyamira in the company of DP William Ruto, Obado also hinted that Raila could be orchastrating his woes.
But in a rejoinder, ODM Vice Chair Janet Ong'era, accused the governor of being irrational in his own judgements over issues he's facing.
"He has misinterpreted the use of crocodile metaphor by Raila. And for record, the governor knows that he's facing criminal charges. It's just his own making," she said.
