A top lawyer who associates with opposition leader Raila Odinga has called on politicians to sober up in their addresses during funerals and church services.
Donald Kipkorir was among lawyers who pieced evidence challenging the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta after the August 8, 2017 general election.
On Friday, he sent a passionate appeal to all politicians who will be attending funeral ceremonies and church services. He asked the leaders to shun talking about the 2022 succession politics as well as anything to do with Raila.
He accused some politicians having been paid to talk ill of Raila as well as talk negatively about the 2022 presidential succession plan. This he says may raise political tension which is not good for the development of Kenya.
"Dear Waheshimiwa [Honorable leaders]. Praying that in the funerals you will be attending tomorrow Saturday, you will commiserate with the family and on Church fundraising on Sunday, you will join in prayers," Kipkorir said in a Tweet.
"And on both days, don’t mention 2022 or Baba (Raila). Though you have been paid to, just try."
Raila has been on the receiving end from politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto who claim the former prime minister is out to frustrate the DP's bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
Leaders from particularly Rift Valley allege that Raila is using his newly-found relationship with Uhuru to ensure Ruto does not become President in 2022.
