During grilliy by detectives, Ms. Maribe suggested that be barely knew Irungu, adding that they fell in love in a city club before moving in together in June this year.

In her statement, she insists that news about Irungu's connection to Monica's murder shocked her thus the decision to move to her parents house.

For the better part of Thursday, Maribe had reportedly refused to pick calls from detectives but would later give in later on.

Detectives have established that Irungu was in the deceased's house in Kilimani until late hours and left in a vehicle registered under Ms. Maribe's name.

Two neighbors had also positively identified him as the man who visited Monica and the two seemed to have been familiar to each other.

On Friday, Maribe returned to CID for grilling as Irungu remained in detention over the murder.
