This comes amid reports that some top leaders within the ruling Jubilee Party have rooted for the former Inter Milan midfielder to represent the party in the much awaited by-election.

And while the seat looks like ODM leader Raila Odinga's to lose, Ndolo says that the plan is to embarrass him in his own backyard, basing on Mariga's high winning chances.

In a tweet on Thursday, he observed that even in the instance that he loses, Raila's enemies from the other side will have achieved their intention of giving him a rough time for a moment.

Ndolo, also a human rights advocate, termed the same the consequences Raila will have to deal with for making too many political enemies in the political field.

"The reason for pushing such a clean and polished brand like Mariga in Kibra is to embarrass Raila thoroughly. In their eyes at least it’s worth a try. Av learned, never make too many enemies in politics, not worth it. Your life will be too hard for nothing. #KibraDecides," he wrote.

One of the local dailies on Wednesday termed Mariga a possible representative of Deputy President William Ruto in the race, as he seeks to settle the score with Raila.

The two, formerly allies, have not been seeing eye to eye politically lately, and are currently considered the biggest political foes in Kenya.
