Recently initiated Kalenjin boys are going to be released, homecoming ceremonies will rent the villages, drinking taking the centre stage to wind the boredom year with the locally made brew, many men spending nights in the entertainment joints.

Amos Kirong, a Uasin Gishu resident says that in the evening before the eventful Christmas day, men will throng into the ‘city of champions’ to entertain themselves until dawn; some their belongings will be stolen, others mercilessly sleeping in the roadsides and water trenches.

“Most men will be dead drunk; out of control. I petty their wives because they will have to stay cold over the festive season,” Kerong noted claiming that some wives will be forced to take sabbatical leave in their maternal homes until the season ends.

One of the Administration police officers who sought anonymity revealed that many men will be arrested in the weird hours while loitering in the town while drunk, a majority of youths will be got for wrong reasons either misbehaving in the clubs or engaging in the fights; distracting the ambient mood of the merriment.

“As usual we have been arresting men, they end up spending the whole day behind bars if they can’t afford to be bailed out,” the officer said urging people to responsibly abide by the law over the season.
