Muthama refuted claims that he wants former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti to drop her running mate in case of a gubernatorial by-election in Machakos County.

He said he has no candidate in mind to deputize Ndeti if she bows to pressure and drops her deputy.

Muthama rubbished the claims that he wants former Machakos Deputy Governor Benard Kiala to deputize Ndeti.

"Not a single time have I suggested for anyone to replace Mathuki if Wavinya Ndeti drops him in case a by-election is held in Machakos County," Muthama said.

He spoke to this writer on the phone on Tuesday.

Muthama said claims that he is fronting Kiala for the position are rumors without substantial proof.

The vocal politician, however, said he knows Mathuki isn't fit for the job hence wouldn't mind if he was replaced by another person so long as he is not of questionable character.

Muthama said his aim is to see Machakos residents get a leader who has the people's interests at heart and is ready to serve.

"Wavinya Ndeti is a good leader, she listens to counsel. That's why she needs a good running mate who will keep her on track for the betterment of our county," Muthama said.

He said Governor Alfred Mutua has failed in his work with most of his projects improperly done.

Muthama said he had been against Governor Alfred Mutua being the Wiper's gubernatorial candidate in 2013 from the word go but nobody listened to him.
