The ODM party leader on Thursday hosted the two Governors at a high-end hotel in Nairobi's Lavington leafy suburb where he is said to have reigned on the two leaders to stop public squabbles that threaten the life of the ODM party in Coast region.

According to Taifa Leo, Joho and Kingi agreed to bury the hatchet and work together towards strengthening the opposition party.

During the meeting, it was also agreed that Joho's planned meeting with all NASA-allied MCAs from Coast region be cancelled. Joho had convened the meeting following a recent convention where Kingi hosted 21 MPs from Coast region.

Idris Abdulrahman who coordinates activities of all Ward Administrators in Mombasa County said on Friday that Joho's meeting had been seen as a threat to the ODM party unity in Coast.

"We had to cancel it after the party leader's intervention," he told Taifa Leo.

Joho has expressed interest in contesting for the country's top seat in 2022 while Kingi is in support of Deputy President William Ruto who is also keen on succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta when his term ends in 2022.
