Villagers said the deceased Fredrick Machuka refused to share tea bonus money with his son identified as Zachary which prompted the stabbing.

"Zachary wanted to get a share of the tea bonus money but his father refused to give him. He was angered and picked a knife which he used to stab him to death," said James Orenge.

Orenge said the suspect tried to stab himself but, villagers who rushed to the homestead apprehended him and surrendered him to police.

Area police boss Isaac Thuranira said the suspect was taken to Kenyenya police station after a thorough beating from locals.

"The deceased could not survive because he lost a lot of blood following the stabbing. His body was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital morgue and the suspect is in custody," he said.

Thuranira assured police are preparing charge sheets for the suspect to be charged in court on Monday.

"Zachary will face murder charges on Monday since charges sheets are being prepared," he noted.

He warned the youth against beating their parents saying the law will not spare them.
