Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has declared interest in the 2022 presidential election.
Mutua is eyeing to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who is serving his final term in office.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) party governor has promised to fight poverty and corruption if he wins the presidency.
In his bid to be president in 2022, Mutua needs the numbers, something Kiambu based political analyst Peter Ngure argues that he might struggle to get.

Mutua is serving his second term in office as Machakos governor.
The gubernatorial position has exposed him to a lot of experience that could help him tackle the country’s problems if he wins the presidency in 2022.
His previous experience as the former Government spokesperson in the coalition government could also be a plus for him in battle for 2022.

It is no doubt that the Machakos governor is among few politicians whose integrity cannot be questioned.
Since taking office, Mutua boasts among a few governors whose name has not been dragged into court battles as far as graft is concerned.

As a communication specialist, governor Mutua knows how to use publicity to his own advantage.
The governor has been able to publicize his development projects and agenda attracting massive support from Kenyans.
He could use publicity to market his presidential manifesto in the process get majority support
