Chief Justice (CJ) David Maraga has finally broken his silence on claims that a Supreme Court Judge pocketed Sh50 Million in the Wajir gubernatorial petition.
In a statement on Thursday, Maraga asked anyone with evidence to write a petition against the said judge or judges to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
The CJ said the JSC will be ready to hear and determine any petition questioning the judges' conduct.
Renowned lawyer Ahemdnasir Abdullahi is alleging that a Supreme Court Judge pocketed a Sh50 million bribe to favour Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi Mahmud in the Wajir petition.
The lawyer claims that he has evidence against the judge.
On Wednesday, Justice Mohamed Ibrahim wrote to lawyer Ahmednassir demanding an apology for defaming him.
Justice Ibrahim claims that the lawyer published defamatory words against him in connection to the petition.
Through his lawyer, Wambua Kilonzo, the Supreme Court judge wants Ahmednasir to apologise within seven days, failure to which he will move to court.
The judge also wants lawyer Ahmednasir to retract defaming words he published on his Twitter account.
"My client demands an apology and retraction of the tweets in a similar prominence to which they were published, both on Twitter and through two Kenyan newspapers with daily and nationwide circulation," the letter addressed to Ahmednasir reads in part.
