Deputy President William Ruto will on Friday visit Nyamira County where he's expected to fundraise for several SDA churches, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi has confirmed.
Interestingly, Dr Ruto will be returning to Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i's home turf amid impeachment plot by his allies against the latter.
At a prize giving on Friday in Nyamiranga Secondary School, Mr Momanyi said the function will be open for all, cautioning against divisive politics.
"The DP will be the chief guest for all SDA Churches in Mokomoni District. It's going to be a big event. I am asking all our people to come in numbers. We ought to help our Churches," said the second term Wiper MP.
Mr Momanyi said preparations were in place to welcome Dr Ruto to the region, adding that he will use the occasion to preach peace and integration among all communities.
"I know some of you might twist it to make the function look as if it's for Tangatanga. Everybody is welcome. I'll call Matiang'i, Raila Odinga and even President Uhuru Kenyatta to ask for their contributions," he said.
Further, Momanyi said, elected leaders should shun premature 2022 politics for the sake of development for their electorates.
He warned against plot to impeach Dr Ruto, which is reportedly being drafted by Ruto's allies, adding that such a move will not be taken lightly by Abagusii community.
"Matiang'i is working. We should not politicise everything. Those planning to impeach him won't have it easy. It's an insult to Abagusii community," he added.
The Parliamentary Service Commission member is among those keen to succeed Governor John Nyagarama. He also asked the governor to involve all leaders when making development decisions.
The DP last shared podium with Dr Matiang'i in 2018 August during the burial of former Planning and Development minister Henry Obwocha. Raila Odinga was also present.
