It is now emerging that President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to meet Members of the National Assembly allied to his Jubilee Party on Tuesday.
In the meeting, the President is reportedly expected to pile pressure on the members to pass the Gender Bill proposal set to be voted for in the house on Wednesday.
According to the Nation, Uhuru who has since urged the MPs to pass the bill has decided to pile pressure on them after a section openly vowed to block it during the sitting.
In what seems like another 'behind the scenes war' between the executive and the legislator, the paper adds that Uhuru might dissolve the house should it not pass the Garissa Township lawmaker Aden Duale-sponsored proposal.
“The President will be frank with the MPs. He is going to tell them to adopt the Bill. If they fail and he receives advice from the Chief Justice on the dissolution of Parliament, he will not hesitate to act. He will sign it. The MPs' future is in their hands,” the paper reports.
The bill also enjoys the support of his deputy William Ruto and top opposition figures Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.
Uhuru is also expected to use the meeting to make it clear that he will not accent to the lawmakers' new attempt to allocate themselves more privileges in salary.
The Parliamentary Service Commission Bill, 2018 is currently before the National Assembly.
