Makueni County Government will today commission a 120-bed capacity mother and children hospital.
Governor Kivutha Kibwana said the health facility located in Wote town adjacent to Makueni Level 5 Hospital will be commissioned by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
"We welcome H.E Margret Kenyatta, The First Lady of the Republic of Kenya on the occasion of the opening of the Makueni Mother and Children Hospital on 6th December 2018," Kibwana posted on both his Facebook and Twitter accounts on Wednesday.
Kibwana said the autonomous facility will provide numerous amenities to the residents.
The Makueni County locals welcomed the move, they expressed their optimism on the facility stating that it will ensure improved quality health services in the county.
They said the hospital will bring health services closer to them (the people).
"We are so blessed to have a governor like Kibwana. He really loves and cares for the local mwananchi," said resident Kiilu.
Kiilu said the governor should be given a trial if Kenyans want a good president.
Several dignified leaders and politicians are expected at the event which will see Makueni residents get the best gynecological, antenatal and neonatal services, among others.
