In Kisumu, the appeals court dismissed evidence produced by Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti as he tries to overturn Justice Joseph Karanja's decision to nullify his victory.

And after the High Court defeat, Awiti hired a battery of lawyers led by Orengo to argue his case.

During the ruling, the court dismissed 7000- page evidence filed by Orengo and accompany thus almost sealing the governor's fate.

Last year, Orengo hit headlines after becoming one of the first lawyers in Africa to have Supreme Court nullify victory of a sitting president.

Since then, he has had a streak of victories notable among them rescuing Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o who was facing a suit against Jack Ranguma.

Before the Thursday ruling, Orengo and the team had successfully barred Awiti's competitor, Oyugi Magwanga from having the governor deposit Sh20 million in court as a guarantee of paying election petition cost.

Also in Orengo's losing side were renowned lawyers Otiende Amollo and Prof. Tom Ojieda.
