Kenya Railways Corporation has issued a stern warning to their passengers over alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and cooked food.
This comes barely days after a passenger complained through social media to Kenya Railways of passengers who were taking alcohol aboard Madarka Express as they travelled from Mombasa to Nairobi.
The two passengers were alleged to have caused a disturbance, especially to children after getting drunk.
Through a statement on Wednesday titled 'Prohibition of Beverages and foodstuffs into termini/Stations', Kenya Railways noted that such items are not allowed.
"Kenya Railways wishes to remind our passengers and customers that alcoholic and non-alcoholic and cooked foods are strictly prohibited into the termini and stations," Kenya Railways noted in part of the statement.
Further, the statement added that if the mentioned items are by any chance found, they will then be confiscated on security checkpoints. If confiscated, the items will not be repossessed by the owner.
About one million Kenyans have travelled on the SGR since its launch in 2017.
