The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret is giving a 50 per cent waiver on all outstanding individual patients’ debt.

According to the hospital's Chief Executive Officer Dr Wilson Aruasa, the waiver will cover up to June 2018 debts.

“Our aim is to ensure that patients, especially from poor backgrounds who are unable to pay their outstanding bills, do so without any problem,” said Dr Aruasa on Tuesday.

The hospital currently has an outstanding individual patients debt amounting to Sh500 million that dates from way back in 1998.

According to Dr Aruasa, the debts have forced the second largest public health facility to operate under financial constraints.

“I want to call upon residents to take advantage of this one month waiver period by paying their outstanding individual patients debts," noted Dr Aruasa.

He further advised all those who will pay their bills to should ensure they obtain officials receipts to avoid falling into the con men's trap.

The waiver is valid period runs from July 9th to August 9th.
