Residents of Nyaranga Village in Nyamira County are shocked by a bizarre incident where a 52-year -old man allegedly impregnated his 15-year-old granddaughter.
"I am so surprised. I went to attend to a funeral service and when I came back, I heard rumours that my daughter was pregnant. I asked her who the father of the baby was and she revealed that her grandfather impregnated her," the mother to the girl said.
The assistant chief of the area Tom Ombui said that he had reports about the unprecedented incident from a concerned residents and took a swift action to dig out the truth.
He confirmed first from the parents whether the girl was pregnant and proceeded to school where the girl studies, together with some other parents.
"I had a report from a concerned resident. I investigated the parents to the girl whether they knew about the pregnancy. After they confirmed that they were aware, I had to go to school where the minor studies with some parents where the girl confirmed to us that she was pregnant for her grandfather," Chief Ombui said.
The Police Inspector of Magombo police station Geoffrey Makori, confirmed the incident where, with other policemen, they arrested the man.
"I hurriedly moved with the policemen and arrested the man. We took the girl to the hospital where the doctor confirmed that she was pregnant. According to the girl's statement, she had sex with her grandfather immediately the school was closed last year." Inspector Makori said.
The man was held in Manga Sengera police station where he is waiting to be judged in court of law once the investigations are done with.
