According to her lawyer Philip Murgor, Wairimu is a shareholder of the Tob Safaris company, therefore, needs to take part in its management.

“Wairimu is not only a shareholder, but also a director of the safari company. She needs to be out so that she can continue running her businesses,” Murgor stated.

Earlier on, the family of the late Tob Cohen through their lawyer Cliff Ombeta had claimed that Sarah Wairumu is dangerous and should be denied bail.

Murgor, on the other hand, defended her client against the accusations citing that the presence of Wairimu's family members in the court was a clear indication that she was not a flight risk.

“Wairimu has a family and siblings who are present before this court and therefore, allegations that she is a flight risk cannot stand,” Murgor noted.

Murgor further told the court that Wairimu was incapable of interfering with the witness as she did not even know them. He added that she was ready to abide by the conditions set by the court.

Wairimu's defence argued that bail application is a right of every accused person as they are considered innocent until proven guilty.
