Nyamira County Speaker Duke Omoti was on Friday reinstated by a court sitting in Kisumu.

Omoti was impeached in August by his fellow county assembly members over gross misconduct and abuse of office. 

He filed a suit at the High court opposing his impeachment.

High court Judge Mathews Nduma on Friday ordered Omoti to get back into office to continue discharging his duties pending the hearing and determination of the court case he filed opposing his impeachment. 

A nominated MCA, Abel Mose tabled a motion before Nyamira County assembly which led Mr. Omoti who doubles as Kiabonyoru ward MCA to be impeached in August.

27 MCAs voted him out while 3 ward reps opposed the impeachment. 

Majority of the ward reps accused Mr. Omoti of gross misconduct including spreading rumors about the county affairs, lack of respect to the Nyamira county Speaker Moffat Teya and his fellow ward representatives.

He was immediately replaced with Bonyamatuta ward MCA Robinson Mocheche who has been discharging the duties as the county deputy speaker.

The High court seat the hearing of the case to be on October 24, 2018.
