Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has pleaded with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga urging him not to abandon Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in 2022.
Ngilu wants the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader to honor the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) he signed with Kalonzo in 2017.
Ngilu says Raila promised to endorse and support Kalonzo's presidency in 2022 and that he should keep his promise.
Addressing the public in Kitui Town on Sunday, Ngilu said Kambas are waiting for Raila to honor his promise.
She said as the Kamba community, they have been with Raila through thick and thin and he should not let them down when the time comes.
Ngilu said Raila holds Kalonzo's key to the presidency in 2022 elections.
She said the former Prime Minister has political bargaining power that could see Kalonzo ascend to power.
"We are politely asking our brother Raila Odinga not to abandon our son Kalonzo Musyoka and honor his promise when time comes," Ngilu said.
The Narc party leader said Kenyans are ready for Kalonzo's leadership noting that he will not disappoint them if given a chance.
Kalonzo signed a MoU with Raila under the National Super Alliance (NASA) that is to see the alliance automatically support him in 2022 polls.
However, there are claims that Raila may not honor the MoU since he did not win the 2017's presidential elections.
There are claims that Raila could contest for the presidency in 2022.
