President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have already parted ways politically, political analyst Dennis Anyonka has said.

The two have been reported to drift further apart over the last few months, in what pundits have termed as a looming separation ahead of the 2022 general elections.

Speaking on Monday, Anyonka noted that the damage is already done, adding that Ruto is to blame for repeatedly opposing and frustrating Uhuru's campaigns.

He said that the ideological differences and varying interests between the two have eroded their political intimacy, leaving them only tied to each other by their personal friendship.

He added that with Ruto alleged loss of interest in supporting Uhuru's legacy bid and instead focusing on his 2022 presidential bid, it's unrealistic to imagine that things are the same.

"Wameshatengana tayari maana kila mtu sasa ako na mipango yake. Rais anafuata legacy naye Ruto anakimbizana na siasa za 2022. Kwa hivyo kila mtu anapigana vita vyake. (They have already separated, with Uhuru now chasing after his own legacy and Ruto on the other end busy with his 2022 plans. Each person is now focusing on their personal interests)," he said.

The commentator was speaking on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha show on Monday morning.

He noted that the same has been evident from early in the year, when former Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe, a close confidant of the President declared war on the DP.

Anyonka said that the former Gatanga MP was most likely representing Uhuru's stand.

"This was confirmed by Murathe. Huenda alizungumza kwa niaba ya Rais (He was most likely speaking on Uhuru's behalf)," added Anyonka.

During an event in Kiambu on Sunday, supporters of Ruto were seen dressed in yellow tee-shirts, a colour associated with his now-defunct URP party.

This has raised questions on whether he has sneaked back to the party which merged with Uhuru's TNA and 15 others to form Jubilee.
