President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto seem to have lost the love initially portrayed between them since 2013 when they first came to power.

Uhuru seems to have isolated Ruto who, however, appears to have remained cocky despite the clear but silent mode of communication Uhuru is trying to use on him.

Uhuru has been silently telling Ruto that things are no longer the same between them and he should move out and forget Uhuru's endorsement in his 2022 presidential bid.

This can be justified by Uhuru's tendency to exclude Ruto in his many functions, and replacing him with opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Let it not be forgotten that Raila is considered Ruto's main challenger in 2022 and you do not associate with your friend's enemy unless you have crossed over.

Also, Uhuru's silence on Ruto's bid and distancing himself from the recent fight between the DP's camp and former Jubilee Party Vice Chair David Murathe is another proof of how worn out the friendship is.

Uhuru's many trips to Luo Nyanza, the latest one being on Saturday when he joined Raila for the burial of former Youth Enterprise Fund boss Bruce Odhiambo is another suggestion.

Many would expect him to instead tour Rift Valley, Ruto's bedrock, but this shows that he is trying as much as he can to avoid the DP.

Unfortunately, Ruto seems either not understanding these nonverbal techniques or simply ignoring them as any other person would expect him to come up with countermeasures or simply do the most expected, walk out.

Staying in might subject him to more humiliation while moving out, on the other hand, might demonstrate cowardice.

However, his next move only time will tell, though it might be too late.
