A senior ODM official claims that two legislators from Nyanza would resign from their seats should Supreme Court kick out Governor Cyprian Awiti.

Having lost twice in lower courts, Awiti has moved to Supreme Court to challenge nullification of his victory.

"I have consulted the party leader and he has advised me to move to Supreme Court," he wrote.

The second term governor is battling out with former Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga.

But things may be tough for him should the court reaffirm Magwanga's victory at Appeals Court since MPs Opondo Kaluma and Gladys Wanga are said to be keen to run for the county seat.

"If Supreme Court sends him home, then ODM primaries will have a mega challenge.

"I am reliably informed that Wanga and Kaluma will resign to contest for governorship," he said.

Despite supporting Awiti's campaign in 2017 polls, the two have gone mum over the ongoing court battles.

In 2014, Kaluma, the Homa Bay Town MP, lost to Wanga in ODM chairperson race in a competition that was marred with chaos.

Wanga has remained Raila Odinga's top grassroot leader and she in fact chaired Nyanza campaigns during 2017 polls.
